Tobacco Free Baker Annual Park Cleanup Brings Community Together

Written by Jacqueline Rush, Baker County Tobacco Policy Manager

Tobacco Free Baker (TFB) successfully hosted its Annual Park Cleanup on September 21, 2026, bringing community members and partners together to promote a cleaner, healthier Baker County. The event provided an opportunity for residents and volunteers to take an active role in caring for a shared community space while supporting Tobacco Free Baker’s broader mission of encouraging healthy, tobacco-free environments.

The cleanup brought together 15 participants, including community members and partners who volunteered their time to help improve the park. Working together, volunteers collected more than 50 pounds of litter and debris from the area. The amount of waste collected demonstrated the positive impact that a small group of dedicated volunteers can make when they come together for a common goal.

In addition to removing litter, the event served as an opportunity to connect with community members and promote awareness of the importance of maintaining clean, welcoming public spaces. Tobacco Free Baker emphasized the connection between healthy environments and community well-being, while encouraging residents to take pride in the places where they live, work, and spend time with their families.

The Annual Park Cleanup also strengthened relationships between Tobacco Free Baker and community partners. Collaborative events such as this create opportunities for organizations and residents to work together on issues that affect the health and quality of life of Baker County. The participation of local volunteers demonstrated that community members are willing to invest their time and energy into making Baker County a healthier place.

The success of the cleanup was measured not only by the more than 50 pounds of litter removed, but also by the 15 individuals who chose to participate and make a difference. Their efforts helped improve the appearance of the park and reinforced the importance of community involvement in creating healthy public spaces.

Tobacco Free Baker is proud of the community support shown during this year’s Annual Park Cleanup and looks forward to continuing to build partnerships and provide opportunities for residents to participate in initiatives that promote healthier, cleaner, and more welcoming environments throughout Baker County.
