Building Connections Through Community Engagement

A meaningful moment for the Tobacco Free Brevard Partnership this quarter was welcoming two new community partners to the September meeting. This was especially significant because provider staff had spent time building relationships with both organizations through individual outreach and one-on-one meetings with representatives from the Brevard Homeless Coalition and BAYS.

Seeing both representatives attend the Partnership meeting was a great example of how continued outreach and relationship-building can create meaningful opportunities for collaboration. One representative was also featured as a Community Highlight, providing an opportunity to introduce their organization and the resources they offer to other Partnership members. Both organizations had been identified as strong community partners and valuable resources for Brevard County, making their participation an exciting step toward strengthening the Partnership’s connections within the community.

The value of these new relationships extended beyond simply having two new attendees at the meeting. By participating in the Partnership, the new partners networked with existing members and connected with organizations such as Central Florida AHEC and the Brevard County School District. These conversations created opportunities for additional collaboration, resource sharing, and future engagement around a shared commitment to improving the community's health and well-being.

This experience was a meaningful reminder that progress does not always come in the form of a major accomplishment or immediate outcome. Sometimes, success is seeing the relationships built through consistent outreach begin to take shape. Provider staff has conducted multiple meetings and conversations with community members and organizations, and it was rewarding to see those efforts result in new partners joining the Partnership and connecting with others.

The Tobacco Free Brevard Partnership and provider staff will continue working with these new members to increase awareness of Tobacco Free Brevard and ongoing BTFF initiatives. By continuing to build relationships, create connections, and identify shared interests, the Partnership can develop new opportunities for collaboration and strengthen its network of community partners throughout Brevard County.
